How to build a competitive analysis
Most competitive analysis I saw was bad. They were focused only on the “surface level”:
Industry, no. of employees, revenue per year, etc.
Ok, that’s good info, but how can you use it? Because that’s the real goal of the analysis:
To get insights → Use them to your advantage.
Here are 3 crucial things to always look for:
1. Positioning
Category, Messaging, and Value proposition.
Get insights → Identify your best positioning
2. Offer
Primary offer and Secondary offer(s).
Get insights → Craft your service offering
3. Demand Gen Programs
Growth channels and Growth tactics
Get insights → Understand what’s working and not
This is how you get the most from a competitive analysis.
Not just by knowing how many employees they have.
